Senior Technical Writer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential identity and access management organization seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join their documentation team. This is a remote opportunity open to candidates across the United States, with optional hybrid arrangements available in Denver, CO or Austin, TX.

Our client serves enterprise organizations worldwide and maintains a robust portfolio of cloud-based and on-premise identity solutions. You'll work within a modern Docs-as-Code environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to produce technical documentation for diverse audiences including developers, administrators, integrators, and end users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product teams to define, design, create, and maintain core product documentation
• Deliver documentation for cloud-based services and on-premise software aimed at end-users, admins, developers, integrators, and DevOps professionals
• Research and learn complex products and the technical standards they depend on
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content with real-life examples and use cases
• Advocate for documentation throughout the software development lifecycle during planning and feature scoping meetings
• Work with AsciiDoc in a Docs-as-Code authoring and publishing environment using GitHub
• Follow Agile development processes to anticipate and identify documentation needs
• Provide constructive structural and technical edits for peer-written or developer-contributed content

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Prior experience or exposure to software development, including familiarity with Agile methodologies
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and quality standards with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to proactively explore unreleased features, test early-stage software, and gather insights independently
• Experience using markdown languages, version control tools, single-source techniques, metadata/tagging, and IDEs
• Experience with Jira and Confluence or similar project management platforms
• Experience using AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) for code generation, use case creation, draft summarization, and style guide checking
• Understanding of how documentation sites are built and published (Jenkins, Antora)
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively both face-to-face and remotely
• A dual-audience mindset: crafting engaging content for humans while structuring documentation for AI tools, search engines, and coding assistants

Preferred qualifications:

• Working in a Docs-as-Code environment
• Scripting or programming experience (Java, Bash, Python, or JavaScript)
• Building, installing, configuring, and debugging client and server software
• Documenting identity and access management applications for power users
• Documenting for developer audiences, especially API documentation
• Simplifying complex technical content
• Writing and maintaining AI skill files and instructions for AI agents and developer tooling
