Staff Product Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded SaaS organization in the customer experience technology space. Our client is seeking a Staff Product Engineer to join their Berlin team and play a leadership role in building scalable, customer-facing products that serve tens of thousands of businesses globally.

As a Staff Product Engineer, you will lead technical initiatives across the full stack, mentor engineering talent, and shape architectural decisions that support rapid growth. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the Berlin office.

Responsibilities

• Design and contribute to technical architecture for systems that scale to millions of end-user requests
• Build both back-end and front-end systems using modern tooling and AI-powered developer platforms
• Lead all phases of software development from ideation and prototyping through design and implementation
• Balance hands-on development with architectural leadership and strategic planning
• Champion continuous deployment practices and incremental, feature-flagged releases
• Partner with product managers, designers, researchers, and data analysts on cross-functional teams
• Mentor and coach other engineers while contributing to hiring and team development
• Raise technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence across the organization

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record building SaaS products used by customers worldwide
• Demonstrated impact on product outcomes and team effectiveness in previous roles
• Deep expertise in a high-level programming language such as Ruby, Python, or Perl
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems architecture
• At least 2 years serving as the primary technical leader for an engineering team
• Strong collaboration skills working directly with product teams and designers
• Pragmatic engineering mindset with a strong sense of product strategy and customer value
• Experience balancing agility with scalability and reliability requirements

Pay
