ZK Proof Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential crypto infrastructure organization that is pioneering zero-knowledge proof technology. They have built a performant and modular zkVM framework and are now scaling their engineering team. We are seeking a ZK Proof Engineer to join their technical team in NYC, with remote options available for exceptional candidates across the USA.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Implement and optimize cutting-edge cryptographic code for zero-knowledge proof generation
• Build systems that interface between low-level computer systems like the RISC-V ISA and compiler frameworks like LLVM
• Connect database backends with advanced zero-knowledge proof systems
• Optimize ZK provers and implement novel ZK circuits
• Make critical design choices to enable rapid development of secure and efficient systems
• Work across the full stack while maintaining a security-first mindset

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Strong background in mathematics/cryptography, OR strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated interest in zero-knowledge proofs
• Proficiency in Rust, C/C++, or similar performant backend languages (our client primarily uses Rust)
• Exceptional attention to detail and security-minded approach
• Track record of working on challenging software projects with an eye for performance
• Clear communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Strong bias towards action and extremely strong work ethic

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with compiler frameworks like LLVM or MLIR
• Background with low-level computer architecture like RISC-V, or experience programming FPGAs or custom hardware
• Experience with database backends, query planning, or low-level query engines
• Research background in mathematics, theoretical computer science, or theoretical physics
• Experience with low-level details of Ethereum

Non-traditional backgrounds are welcome, including high-frequency trading, math/physics/CS academia, and hardware engineering.
