Our talent team is representing a well-funded computer vision technology company in a search for an Edge Engineer. This is a hands-on, field-focused role where you'll deploy and support AI-powered hardware solutions in industrial environments across the United States. This position requires up to 75% travel to customer sites nationwide, where you'll lead installations, troubleshoot systems, and ensure reliable performance of edge computing devices in real-world conditions.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Assemble, configure, and test edge computing devices (including embedded systems, industrial cameras, sensors, and networking equipment) prior to deployment
• Lead on-site installations at customer facilities, performing physical mounting, sensor alignment, cabling, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) configuration
• Manage device connectivity including RTSP streams, VPN configuration, and SSH access
• Troubleshoot cameras, inference pipelines, and data uploads in field environments under time constraints
• Configure network settings on Linux-based edge devices (interface binding, static IPs, DHCP configuration)
• Maintain hardware inventory including cables, mounts, lenses, enclosures, and replacement components
• Build relationships with hardware partners and systems integrators to coordinate field support
• Create and maintain technical documentation including standard operating procedures, wiring diagrams, and setup guides
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and support teams to provide field feedback that drives product improvements
• Develop internal tooling and processes to increase deployment speed and consistency

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Hands-on hardware experience with embedded devices (such as edge computing platforms), industrial cameras, or similar hardware in field deployment contexts
• Familiarity with computer vision inference pipelines and related technologies
• Strong Linux and networking proficiency, comfortable with system-level debugging and tools like nmcli, ifconfig, systemd, and Docker
• Python and Bash scripting ability to automate routine tasks and customize device behavior
• Self-starter mentality who operates autonomously in the field and knows when to escalate versus resolve independently
• Resourceful problem-solving mindset, remaining calm when debugging issues on-site
• Excellent communication skills with ability to write clear technical documentation and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to customer locations across the United States

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with PoE cameras or IP camera configuration
• Familiarity with manufacturing plant safety protocols and basic electrical wiring
• Experience building remote monitoring or telemetry solutions for edge devices
