What This Role Involves

As a Border Patrol Agent at the GL-5/7 grade level, you'll perform critical law enforcement and security work at the front lines of national border protection. Your day-to-day duties span detection and apprehension of undocumented individuals, interdiction of contraband, intelligence collection, and active border patrol operations across Montana's assigned sectors. You'll maintain surveillance of remote border areas, respond to security incidents, and contribute directly to the agency's counterterrorism and narcotics enforcement mission.

Your Responsibilities

• Conduct border patrol operations including surveillance, reconnaissance, and monitoring of assigned areas in Montana and Jefferson County
• Detect, apprehend, and process individuals attempting unauthorized entry
• Inspect vehicles, cargo, and persons at ports of entry and remote locations
• Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate documentation of enforcement actions
• Operate detection equipment, vehicles, and communications systems
• Respond to alarms, alerts, and emergency situations with appropriate law enforcement action
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other law enforcement agencies
• Maintain required physical fitness and readiness standards throughout your tenure

Who We're Looking For

• U.S. citizen between 18 and 40 years old
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Correctable vision and hearing within federal standards
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance
• Clean background free of felony convictions and significant misdemeanors
• Demonstrated physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous law enforcement duties
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish highly desirable
• Willingness to relocate and work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
