Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct border surveillance and law enforcement patrols using vehicle, foot, and tactical equipment across varied terrain and weather conditions
- Interview and process individuals apprehended attempting unlawful entry or visa violations
- Document evidence, complete incident reports, and maintain detailed records for federal investigations and court proceedings
- Coordinate with CBP sectors, other federal agencies, local law enforcement, and international partners on enforcement operations
- Identify and interdict narcotics, weapons, and other contraband destined for U.S. commerce and communities
- Operate communications equipment, vehicles, and specialized border security technology
- Respond to emergency situations and adapt tactics based on real-time intelligence and sector priorities
Qualifications
- U.S. citizen between 21 and 40 years old (veterans may be eligible for age waiver)
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
- Pass a thorough federal background investigation and security clearance eligibility determination
- Pass medical examination and drug screening
- Excellent vision and hearing (correctable vision acceptable)
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
- Willingness to relocate and work in remote or high-threat border areas
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or related law enforcement experience is valued
