About This Position

The Billing Customer Service Representative plays a vital role in our patient financial services department. You'll be the primary contact for patients, providers, and insurance companies seeking assistance with account balances, payment options, and insurance inquiries. Working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, you'll combine customer service excellence with accuracy in managing sensitive financial records, contributing directly to patient satisfaction and hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Address patient inquiries regarding billing statements, account balances, and payment options via phone, email, and in-person
• Process and arrange payment plans for outstanding balances and assist patients with account adjustments
• Resolve billing discrepancies by investigating claims, identifying errors, and coordinating with insurance carriers and internal departments
• Respond to insurance-related questions and guide patients through coverage details and claim status updates
• Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and document outcomes in our billing management systems
• Assist with patient registration and demographic data collection to ensure billing accuracy from intake
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements and maintain confidentiality of all patient financial and medical information

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma, GED, or higher education qualification
• Demonstrated customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare or financial services setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex billing topics clearly
• Proficiency with computer systems, billing software, and standard office applications
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when managing financial records
• Ability to multitask and respond professionally to customers in high-volume environments
