Repair & Maintenance Technician

Nantahala Outdoor Center is seeking a Repair & Maintenance Technician to join its team in Bryson City, Swain County.

About the Role

This full‑time position supports the daily upkeep of NOC’s extensive facilities, ensuring that equipment, structures, and outdoor amenities remain safe and operational for guests and staff. The technician works across multiple sites including river access points, adventure courses, lodging areas, retail spaces, and food service venues, responding to both routine preventive tasks and unexpected repair needs.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the property.
• Diagnose and repair issues with rafting gear, zip‑line components, trail infrastructure, and building fixtures.
• Conduct regular inspections of safety equipment, documenting findings and completing required service logs.
• Assist with setup and teardown of seasonal installations, such as temporary shelters and event structures.
• Coordinate with department leads to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime for guest activities.
• Maintain an organized inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies, replenishing as needed.
• Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and environmental guidelines while performing tasks.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in general maintenance, facilities repair, or a related trade.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and basic technical drawings.
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigating rugged terrain.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; ability to operate utility vehicles and small machinery.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Commitment to maintaining high safety standards in a recreational environment.
