Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential climate-tech organization in Freiburg im Breisgau seeking a Working Student in Building Energy & Software Development. In this role, you will:
- Develop and extend Python code in calculation engines for building energy analysis software
- Implement new calculation methods including cooling demand assessment, innovative HVAC system modeling, and renovation scenario analysis
- Maintain databases of economic assumptions, funding rates, and energy price projections
- Prepare calculation core updates for integration into SaaS backend systems
- Monitor regulatory and technical developments in building energy standards and provide specialist support to the technical team
What We're Looking For
Our client needs a student who can work on-site in Freiburg and brings the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in energy engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, renewable energies, industrial engineering, or related technical field
- Strong knowledge of building energy systems and HVAC technology—this is your core strength
- Demonstrated experience with Python programming and commitment to clean, maintainable code
- Interest in software development principles and SaaS application architecture
- Independent, solution-oriented working style with ability to contribute innovative ideas
- Availability for at least one full semester with potential for long-term engagement
- Team-oriented mindset and genuine interest in advancing the energy transition
