Women’s Pathway Athletic Performance Coach

Scottish Rugby Limited is seeking a Women's Pathway Athletic Performance Coach to join our team in Hermiston, Currie. In this full-time position, you'll shape the physical development and readiness of emerging female rugby talent, playing a pivotal role in preparing the next generation for professional rugby.

About the Role

This is your opportunity to make a tangible difference in women's rugby at the elite development level. You'll work within a structured performance pathway, delivering evidence-based athletic conditioning and strength programmes tailored to female athletes. Your focus will be on building robust, resilient players who can compete at the highest levels whilst developing their technical and tactical skills.

Core Duties

• Design, implement, and oversee athletic performance programming across the women's pathway, from academy through to elite development squads
• Conduct fitness assessments and develop individualised conditioning plans aligned with rugby-specific demands
• Collaborate with coaches, medical staff, and nutritionists to integrate performance strategy into daily training and match preparation
• Monitor athlete progress through data collection, analysis, and feedback, adapting programmes to maximise results
• Support injury prevention initiatives and rehabilitation protocols working closely with the medical team
• Deliver coaching sessions emphasising strength, power, speed, and movement quality

What We're Looking For

• Level 2 or higher qualification in strength and conditioning (CIMSPA, HALO, or equivalent recognised standard)
• Demonstrable experience coaching athletes in rugby or comparable intermittent team sports
• Sound understanding of female athletic physiology and performance development principles
• Strong communication skills, able to mentor and motivate athletes of varying ages and experience levels
• Experience with performance monitoring tools and the ability to interpret data meaningfully
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice
