Virtual Platform Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology consulting client in their search for a Virtual Platform Engineer to join their team on a fully remote basis. This role offers the opportunity to architect and operate enterprise-scale VMware environments while working with modern cloud-native platforms.

Location: 100% Remote (United States)
Position Type: Full-time, Direct W2
Experience Required: 6+ years in VMware platform engineering

Responsibilities

As a Virtual Platform Engineer, you will design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. Your work will span the full VMware stack including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria, and Tanzu platforms.

• Architect and maintain enterprise VMware environments at scale
• Implement and manage software-defined networking and storage solutions
• Develop automation workflows using PowerCLI and related tooling
• Manage capacity planning and performance optimization across the virtualization estate
• Design and implement disaster recovery patterns and site recovery management
• Support container platform initiatives using Tanzu Kubernetes Grid
• Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, network, and storage layers
• Navigate the evolving VMware product landscape with practical, business-focused solutions

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Five or more years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience
• Deep expertise in vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi administration
• Hands-on experience with vSAN and storage policy management
• Experience with NSX-T or NSX-V networking implementations
• Strong PowerCLI scripting skills and automation tooling experience
• Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms
• Strong understanding of disaster recovery patterns and SRM
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across the virtualization stack
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VCAP credentials
• Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or Google Cloud VMware Engine
• Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
• Experience with Aria Operations or vRealize Operations
• Exposure to virtualization platform migration programs
