Theater Teacher

About the Role

In this teaching position, you'll lead high school students through comprehensive drama education, from foundational performance techniques to advanced theatrical production. You'll create dynamic learning experiences that develop students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social capabilities while building the communication and collaboration skills essential for academic success and responsible citizenship. What You'll Do

• Develop and deliver engaging curriculum in theater and drama arts for high school students
• Teach performance techniques, script analysis, character development, and theatrical history
• Direct student theatrical productions and manage technical aspects including staging, lighting, sound, and set design
• Assess student understanding and progress through performances, projects, and classroom participation
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive classroom environment that encourages creative expression and artistic risk-taking
• Mentor students in building confidence, leadership, and interpersonal skills through ensemble performance work
• Collaborate with school colleagues and leadership to advance the arts program and support positive student outcomes

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Theater, Drama Education, Performing Arts, or a closely related field
• Valid Texas teaching certification in Theater/Drama, or demonstrated eligibility to obtain certification
• Deep knowledge of dramatic literature, performance theory, and theatrical production practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong commitment to student-centered, differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
• Experience directing school productions or leading youth theater programs (preferred)
• Genuine passion for fostering student creativity, building confidence, and supporting artistic and personal growth
