Support Engineer Firewall & Netzwerk (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential managed services organization in Wiesbaden seeking a Support Engineer focused on firewall and network technologies. In this role, you will specialize in network security rather than serving as a generalist, gaining deep hands-on experience across multiple vendor environments and customer networks.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Receiving, analyzing, and resolving network and firewall incidents and requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems
• Configuring and managing enterprise firewalls including rule sets, NAT configurations, and VPN solutions
• Administering network infrastructure including switches and wireless access points
• Setting up and supporting site-to-site and client VPN connections
• Diagnosing network issues involving DNS, DHCP, VLAN configurations, and routing alongside customers
• Maintaining comprehensive documentation of configurations, changes, and resolutions
• Serving as technical escalation point for the service desk on network and firewall matters
• Collaborating with senior engineers on complex technical issues and project work
• Following established processes and quality standards

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Completed IT apprenticeship (such as Fachinformatiker Systemintegration) or comparable practical experience
• Professional experience in IT support, service desk, or systems administration
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, DNS, and DHCP
• Practical experience with enterprise firewall platforms and/or network infrastructure components
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows client operating systems
• Genuine interest in analyzing technical problems and specializing in network security
• Service-oriented mindset with strong customer focus
• Independent and structured work approach
• Fluent German and good English language skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in managed service provider or systems integrator environments
• Familiarity with centralized network management platforms
• Vendor certifications in network security or routing and switching
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, or Microsoft 365
• Exposure to virtualization technologies
• ITIL knowledge or certifications
• Valid driver's license (Class B)
