About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential EdTech organization building agentic AI systems for the education sector. Our talent team is seeking an AI Product Engineer to join their mission-driven team in Bielefeld, Germany. This role offers 100% remote work with optional office access.

As an AI Product Engineer, you'll own user problems end-to-end: from understanding the challenge through architecture, backend, frontend, and deployment. Your focus will be on AI engineering—building reliable, fast, and cost-effective agentic systems that serve thousands of educators and hundreds of thousands of learners.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of product features from problem discovery through production deployment
• Design and build LLM-based features and agentic AI systems at scale
• Develop modern web applications using TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js, and React
• Architect backend systems with strong API design, databases (SQL, NoSQL, vector), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and ensure production reliability
• Validate that solutions work effectively in real-world classroom environments
• Leverage AI coding agents and modern tools to multiply your productivity
• Collaborate directly with founders and the product-engineering team

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of product engineering experience developing and operating modern web applications in a product team with real users
• Production AI engineering experience: You've built and deployed LLM-based features or agentic systems. You understand context windows, model failure modes, RAG, vector databases, and why prompts without evals are incomplete
• Technical foundation: Strong skills in API design, databases (SQL, NoSQL, vector), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. Backend and architecture focus is welcome, but you're not a narrow specialist
• Full-stack capability: While backend may be your strength, you can work across the stack including frontend with React
• Ownership mindset: You thrive with under-specified problems, find simple solutions to complex questions, and build systems that work in real-world conditions
• AI-native work style: You naturally use coding agents and modern AI tools to scale your output and stay current on how AI is transforming software development
• Language requirements: Fluent German and very good English

Compensation

The client offers €70,000–€100,000 gross annual salary depending on experience, plus equity (VSOP). Full remote work with optional modern office space in Bielefeld.
