Fullstack Platform Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential creator technology platform in their search for a Fullstack Platform Engineer in Berlin. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you'll build backend services, improve infrastructure, and own systems end-to-end in a production environment.

Our client operates at the intersection of marketplace technology and creator tools, and they're scaling rapidly. You'll work directly with founders and product leadership to ship features that matter—from campaign systems and matching algorithms to payments and background job processing.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs for marketplace operations, including matching, campaigns, and payment processing
• Design clear domain models, database schemas, and service boundaries that scale
• Build reliable background jobs that handle concurrency, retries, and failures correctly
• Contribute to Web, Android, and iOS frontend code when features require end-to-end ownership
• Improve deployments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, backups, and recovery processes
• Debug issues across application code, databases, infrastructure, and third-party APIs
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions while maintaining development velocity
• Use AI coding agents as a core part of your daily development workflow—planning, implementing, testing, reviewing, and documenting software

What We're Looking For

• Strong backend engineering experience in production environments
• Excellent knowledge of SQL, relational databases, transactions, locking, and data modelling
• Experience with Docker, Linux, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD tooling
• Solid understanding of queues, scheduled jobs, APIs, networking, security, and observability
• Confidence reasoning about concurrency, idempotency, partial failures, and recovery scenarios
• Strong debugging skills across the full stack
• Startup experience or a demonstrated bias toward ownership and execution
• Good product judgment and an instinct for avoiding unnecessary complexity
• Experience using AI coding agents to plan, implement, test, review, and document software
• The ability to critically review and improve AI-generated code until it is production-ready

The stack includes TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Docker, and Linux. Experience with every technology is not required—we care more about strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.

AI-native engineering: Using AI agents is a requirement for this role. You'll use them throughout development—exploring code, planning changes, implementing features, writing tests, investigating failures, and maintaining documentation. You remain responsible for architecture, security, correctness, and production outcomes. We're looking for engineers who know how to give agents useful context, break work into verifiable steps, and review output critically.

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive for the Berlin market. Our client offers a meaningful equity package in addition to base salary.
