Staff Software Engineer- UI Foundations Team

Responsibilities

Our client, a leading product analytics platform, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own their frontend infrastructure. In this role, you will:

• Design and evolve the architectural foundations of a modern frontend platform, including module boundaries, micro-frontend patterns, shared component infrastructure, and state management strategy
• Diagnose and resolve systemic performance issues across bundle size, load time, runtime performance, and rendering bottlenecks while establishing performance budgets that scale across engineering teams
• Build and maintain build systems, local development environments, CI/CD pipelines, linting/codegen tools, and internal tooling that engineering teams depend on daily
• Develop AI-agent-driven automation to systematically eliminate manual bottlenecks in engineering workflows—continuously identifying constraints and building agentic tooling to remove them
• Set technical direction and standards for the frontend organization, mentor senior and staff-level engineers, and review architecture proposals that impact shared infrastructure
• Partner with product engineering teams, design systems, and platform teams to ensure foundational investments solve real product-team challenges

What We're Looking For

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in their search for a high-impact frontend infrastructure leader. The ideal candidate brings:

• Significant software engineering experience operating at Staff level or equivalent scope and impact
• Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture (React or equivalent component frameworks) combined with strong infrastructure and systems engineering instincts—equally comfortable in build tooling, CI/CD, and application code
• Demonstrated experience improving frontend application performance at scale, including bundle optimization, rendering performance, and load-time metrics
• Track record designing and shipping internal developer tooling or platform infrastructure that measurably improved developer velocity
• Hands-on experience with AI-agent-driven or LLM-powered engineering workflows (agentic coding tools, autonomous pipelines, AI-assisted codegen/migration) or a clear vision for building them
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to drive consensus on ambiguous, cross-cutting architectural decisions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for influencing through documentation, proposals, design reviews, and cross-team discussions

Preferred experience includes:

• Monorepo tooling, micro-frontend architectures, or large-scale frontend platform migrations
• Design systems and component library architecture
• Building agent harness infrastructure such as evaluation frameworks, agent orchestration, or tool-use frameworks for LLMs
