About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential cloud communications organization in their search for a Staff Security Engineer specializing in AI-powered threat detection and response. Our client is building cutting-edge security capabilities to protect their global platform, and they need an experienced security professional who can combine deep technical expertise with innovative AI-driven approaches to threat hunting.
This is a remote position within the United States, though candidates in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, and WA cannot be considered due to client requirements. You'll join a talented Security Engineering team focused on developing scalable detection systems, automating security operations, and staying ahead of next-generation threats.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Architect and develop high-performance detective tooling and automation systems for a large-scale cloud environment
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response activities as a technical security owner
- Design and implement AI agents and agentic workflows to enhance threat detection capabilities
- Conduct comprehensive threat hunting activities using AI-powered tools, delivering high-fidelity detections
- Participate in application and systems threat modeling alongside engineering teams
- Build and extend SIEM platform functionality to address evolving security challenges
- Automate manual security processes using SOAR tools and infrastructure as code
- Research and implement defenses against AI-based threats following MITRE ATLAS or similar frameworks
- Collaborate cross-functionally to understand and solve challenges across a broad spectrum of threat actors and activities
- Mentor team members and contribute to long-term security strategy and roadmaps
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of security engineering experience in production cloud environments
- Subject-matter expertise in security issues and technologies
- Proven experience designing and building AI agents and agentic workflows
- Demonstrated ability to utilize AI for complex threat hunting activities
- Experience detecting and responding to AI-based adversarial threats
- Advanced knowledge of service-oriented architectures and cloud security tools
- Experience working across technology stacks on difficult security challenges
- Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms and extending their capabilities
- Experience with SOAR tools and security process automation
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or other major cloud platforms
Desired qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to influence and build relationships across all organizational levels
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
