Staff Product Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in their search for a Staff Product Engineer based in London. Our client is building cutting-edge AI-powered customer experience solutions at significant scale, and they need a technical leader who can drive architecture, mentor engineers, and deliver exceptional product outcomes.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll contribute to both backend and frontend systems while shaping technical strategy and developing the engineering team. You'll work in a fast-paced environment that values continuous deployment, incremental delivery, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture decisions as the platform scales to handle growing customer demand
• Build and maintain systems that balance agility with scalability and availability
• Contribute across all phases of software development from ideation through implementation
• Partner closely with product managers, designers, researchers, and data analysts
• Mentor and coach engineers while actively participating in hiring and team development
• Set and raise the bar for technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence
• Ship code using continuous deployment practices with feature flags and incremental rollouts
• Balance hands-on development work with leadership and architectural responsibilities

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record building SaaS products that customers around the world depend on
• Demonstrated, measurable impact your work has had on product outcomes and team effectiveness
• Deep expertise in high-level programming languages such as Ruby, Python, or Perl
• Strong experience with distributed systems architecture
• At least 2 years serving as the primary technical leader for an engineering team
• Experience collaborating directly with product teams and designers to deliver customer value
• Pragmatic engineering mindset with strong product strategy sense
• Passion for mentoring engineers and raising team capabilities
