About the Role

As a Staff Engineer on our platform team, you'll design and lead backend infrastructure that processes vast volumes of unstructured information at scale. This is a leadership-level technical position where you'll define system architecture, mentor engineers, and drive decisions that shape how thousands of organisations rely on our technology. You'll work on problems that demand both technical rigour and innovation—building resilient systems that must perform flawlessly in mission-critical scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve backend services handling billions of data points across complex submission workflows
• Take end-to-end ownership of system components, from architecture through production support
• Lead technical direction on AI integration, data pipeline optimisation, and system reliability
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers, product teams, and infrastructure specialists to deliver integrated solutions
• Guide junior engineers through code review, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to our roadmap by identifying technical opportunities and risks early

Who We're Looking For

• 5+ years' experience in backend engineering, with proven expertise in distributed systems or large-scale data processing
• Strong foundation in systems design, API architecture, and database optimisation
• Experience working with AI/ML workflows, data ingestion pipelines, or similar complex processing systems
• Demonstrated ability to own technical decisions and influence architectural direction
• Comfortable mentoring and collaborating across technical teams
• Ability to balance speed and quality in fast-moving, experimental environments
