Sr. Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Remote Eligible in the UK)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise SaaS organization in their search for a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer. This is a remote-eligible role based in the UK, working with a company at the forefront of AI-augmented work platforms. You will independently lead the most complex AI deployments our client undertakes, owning the full engagement lifecycle from technical discovery through production deployment. This is a function-building role where you will architect multi-agent solutions, mentor junior engineers, and create the deployment frameworks that enable hundreds of consultants and partners to deliver AI solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-system AI deployments end-to-end: scope, architect, build, validate, and manage the customer relationship throughout
• Own the AI workshop program for your pod, customizing modules per customer, leading technical sessions, translating outputs into production requirements, and evolving content from field learning
• Architect multi-agent solutions, selecting the right coordination pattern for each customer's workflow characteristics and compliance requirements
• Design client-specific and industry-specific MCP resource packs that serve personalized intelligence, enabling connected AI surfaces to deliver smarter automation
• Own deployment kit quality for your pod, ensuring all documentation is accessible to solutions consultants with no engineering background
• Lead solutions enablement sprints to transfer AI deployment patterns to consultants and partners with training materials and certification criteria
• Drive the intelligence loop by authoring strategic memos, presenting field findings weekly, contributing reusable components, and filing platform improvement proposals
• Mentor junior forward deployed engineers on customer engagements, code reviews, and deployment kit quality
• Travel domestically and internationally approximately 25–50% of the time

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 6–10+ years production software engineering experience, including 3+ years deploying AI/ML to production
• Deep Python expertise; strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills
• Proven track record leading complex enterprise technical engagements, managing customer relationships, navigating security reviews, and delivering production systems organizations depend on
• Deep production LLM experience: multi-agent orchestration, MCP/tool-use, RAG optimization, evaluation frameworks, and agent deployment at scale
• System architecture expertise spanning enterprise systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI services, with the ability to explain solutions to both CIOs and junior engineers
• Demonstrated ability to create reusable technical assets that others use in production—you think in platforms, not projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for architecture documents, runbooks, strategic memos, and training materials
• Track record of leaving teams better than you found them, ensuring knowledge transfer and sustainable ownership
• Eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis
• BS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Nice to Have:

• Experience founding or scaling a forward deployed engineering or solutions engineering function
• Technical founder background
• Experience with Databricks, AWS Bedrock, or Temporal
• Deep domain knowledge in healthcare, financial services, or government
• Agent framework contributions (open-source projects, LangChain, MCP servers)
• Proficiency in German or French language
• Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, UK/EU AI Act)
