Sr. Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Remote Eligible in the UK)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise software organization seeking a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer to lead complex AI implementations across Europe. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant autonomy and impact—you will independently own the most sophisticated AI deployments our client undertakes, from technical discovery through production handoff.

You will architect multi-agent solutions, design custom AI resource implementations, and build reusable deployment frameworks that enable hundreds of consultants and partners. This role combines hands-on engineering, customer engagement, strategic thinking, and mentorship. You are building a capability, not just executing projects.

Location: London (remote eligible within the UK). Domestic and international travel required approximately 25–50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end complex, multi-system AI deployments including scoping, architecture, development, validation, and ongoing customer relationship management
• Own and deliver AI workshop programs tailored to each customer's context; lead technical sessions, translate business requirements into production specifications, and evolve content based on field learning
• Design multi-agent architectures selecting appropriate coordination patterns based on workflow characteristics and compliance requirements
• Create client-specific and industry-specific AI resource packages that deliver personalized intelligence across connected surfaces
• Develop production-grade deployment kits with documentation clear enough for non-engineering consultants to execute independently
• Lead enablement sprints to transfer AI deployment knowledge to solutions teams and partners, including training materials and certification frameworks
• Drive continuous improvement through strategic documentation, weekly findings presentations, contribution of reusable components, and platform enhancement proposals
• Mentor junior engineers on customer engagements, code quality, and deployment best practices

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 6–10+ years production software engineering experience, including 3+ years deploying AI/ML solutions to production environments
• Deep Python expertise; strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills
• Proven track record leading complex enterprise technical engagements, managing customer relationships, navigating security reviews, and delivering mission-critical production systems
• Deep production LLM experience including multi-agent orchestration, tool-use patterns, RAG optimization, evaluation frameworks, and agent deployment at scale
• System architecture expertise spanning enterprise systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI services—with the ability to explain technical concepts to both C-level executives and junior engineers
• Demonstrated ability to create reusable technical assets adopted by others in production; you think in platforms, not one-off projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including architecture documentation, runbooks, strategic memos, and training materials
• Track record of knowledge transfer and team enablement—leaving teams better equipped and more capable
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25–50% of the time
• Eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis
• BS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Nice to Have:

• Experience founding or scaling a forward deployment engineering or solutions engineering function
• Technical founder background; experience with cloud AI platforms, workflow orchestration systems, or agent frameworks
• Deep domain expertise in healthcare, financial services, or government sectors
• Contributions to open-source agent frameworks or AI tooling
• Proficiency in German or French
• Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements including GDPR and UK/EU AI Act
