Special Education Teacher

Duncan Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our Student Support Services team in a full-time position. This opportunity allows you to make a direct impact on the academic and personal growth of students with diverse learning needs across our district.

Position Summary

Duncan Public Schools is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher to deliver specialized instruction and support to students with individualized education programs (IEPs). You will collaborate closely with general education staff, families, and support personnel to create inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive. This position focuses on evidence-based teaching practices, accommodation implementation, and building students' confidence and independence both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to each student's IEP goals and learning profile
• Develop and adapt curriculum materials, assessments, and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
• Monitor student progress and maintain detailed, accurate records of academic and behavioral data
• Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and specialists to support student inclusion
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, challenges, and celebrations
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of meaningful, measurable goals
• Model and reinforce positive behavior supports and social-emotional skills
• Maintain compliance with special education regulations and district policies

Requirements

• Valid special education teaching certification or license for your state
• Bachelor's degree in special education or closely related field
• Demonstrated knowledge of special education law, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to balance multiple responsibilities
• Excellent communication skills with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practices
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, student-centered team
