Software Engineer, Robotics

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential aerospace technology organization that is developing advanced autonomous aircraft systems and swarm coordination platforms. Our talent team is seeking a Software Engineer, Robotics to join their autonomy engineering group working on production vehicle systems and real-world deployment.

This is a remote position supporting cutting-edge unmanned systems work. You'll be building the software that runs on actual hardware in the field, working across the entire stack from embedded vehicle systems to sensor integration and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend components across the autonomy stack, including planning behaviors, vehicle software, sensor and payload integration, and simulation environments
• Develop the on-vehicle software platform to support integration of first and third-party sensors, payloads, and software modules
• Create and validate physically realistic simulations of unmanned systems, ensuring simulation accuracy matches real-world flight and field test results
• Prototype electronics and troubleshoot complex mixed hardware-software systems, including edge cases that emerge on deployed vehicles
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code with emphasis on reliability and testability

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
• 3+ years of experience building soft-realtime embedded systems or robotics software
• Deep expertise in at least one systems language (C/C++, Rust, or Go)
• Hands-on experience implementing robotics algorithms such as path planning, state estimation, and behavior trees
• Working knowledge of embedded systems including SPI/I2C/serial protocols, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and microcontroller programming
• Strong networking fundamentals covering NAT, mDNS, UDP/TCP, multicast, and firewall configuration
• Excellent software engineering practices with emphasis on testable, reliable code
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) due to ITAR requirements

Preferred qualifications:

• Contributions to deployed robotics or IoT systems requiring complex edge processing in aerospace or autonomous vehicles
• Experience with robotics middleware such as DDS/ROS2, ZeroMQ, or gRPC and serialization formats like Protobuf
• Hands-on electronics skills including breadboarding, soldering, schematic interpretation, and datasheet analysis
• Familiarity with government unmanned systems interoperability standards (OMS/UCI, STANAG 4586, FACE)
