Software Engineer, Internal Platforms

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization in their search for a Software Engineer to join their Internal Platforms team. This is a high-ownership fullstack position where you'll build and scale the core systems that power internal operations and workflows. You'll work across the entire stack—from backend services to user-facing interfaces—while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end fullstack systems supporting critical internal workflows and platform capabilities
• Build scalable backend services and APIs with clean contracts and clear ownership boundaries
• Develop performant frontend interfaces used by internal teams and stakeholders
• Participate in data modeling, schema design, and database performance optimization
• Collaborate with product, operations, and design teams to transform ambiguous requirements into reliable systems
• Improve platform observability, reliability, and developer experience across internal tooling
• Conduct code reviews, write tests, and champion engineering quality standards
• Debug and resolve production issues while strengthening operational resilience
• Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Experience building production fullstack systems (through internships, personal projects, or professional roles)
• Strong TypeScript fundamentals for frontend and/or backend development
• Familiarity with backend development using Node.js (NestJS experience is a plus)
• Experience building user interfaces with React or similar frameworks
• Understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and core data modeling principles
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and distributed system communication patterns
• Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or similar providers
• Awareness of modern architectures including microservices, serverless, or event-driven systems
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ownership mindset and attention to detail
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, or DevOps workflows
• Background building internal developer platforms, operational tooling, or workflow automation
• Exposure to AI-adjacent, data-intensive, or ML-powered products
• Experience in startup, lab, or high-growth engineering environments
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and platform reliability best practices
