Vice President of Communications and Narrative Strategy

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential democracy reform organization in a national search for a Vice President of Communications and Narrative Strategy. This is a senior leadership role focused on building the communications and narrative infrastructure for a large-scale movement to advance electoral system reform across federal, state, and local levels.

Our client has secured significant funding to lead ambitious campaigns that will require forging cross-partisan coalitions, winning legislation and ballot measures, and reshaping public narratives about democratic representation. This role will serve on the Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for all communications, research, digital engagement, media relations, and strategic messaging efforts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a long-term narrative strategy that redefines public conversation about representation, accountability, and democratic legitimacy
• Create messaging frameworks that translate complex policy reforms into accessible, compelling narratives that resonate across ideological, geographic, racial, and generational divides
• Build a narrative intelligence operation that tracks public opinion, media narratives, opposition messaging, and emerging political opportunities
• Lead communications strategy for federal, state, and local campaigns, developing integrated plans that leverage earned media, paid media, digital engagement, and coalition communications
• Oversee all public opinion research including polling, focus groups, message testing, audience segmentation, and voter insight efforts
• Manage relationships with communications consultants, research firms, polling vendors, creative agencies, digital partners, and media strategists
• Build and train a diverse bench of spokespeople and champions, placing voices in traditional and new media channels
• Develop strong relationships with journalists, editorial boards, influencers, content creators, and opinion leaders
• Oversee all digital communications, content strategy, social media, paid media, and audience growth efforts
• Provide strategic communications guidance and technical support to allied organizations and campaign partners
• Serve as strategic advisor to executive leadership on reputational risks, emerging opportunities, and changing political conditions

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of senior leadership experience in political communications, public affairs, advocacy, movement-building, media, or narrative strategy
• Demonstrated success leading communications efforts that shifted public opinion, shaped narratives, influenced policymakers, or contributed to significant policy victories
• Deep expertise in message development, polling, audience research, media relations, digital communications, and strategic communications planning
• Experience overseeing communications for complex, multi-state, national, or international campaigns
• Strong understanding of how narrative change contributes to long-term political and social change
• Experience managing communications firms, polling vendors, research partners, creative agencies, and large communications budgets
• Exceptional writing, storytelling, presentation, and strategic thinking skills
• Familiarity with campaign finance regulations and C3/C4 compliance
• Strong relationships within national media, digital media, political communications, philanthropy, or advocacy ecosystems
• Experience building and managing high-performing teams
• Deep commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and advancing representative government

Compensation and Benefits

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $185,000 – $285,000 based on experience, location cost of living, and tenure. Candidates with fewer years of experience in lower-cost areas will be in the bottom third of the range, while those with extensive experience in higher-cost metro areas will be in the middle to upper portions of the range.
