Data Security Manager – Information Security & Risk Management

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare organization in their search for a Data Security Manager to lead enterprise-wide information security and risk management initiatives. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for building and managing comprehensive data protection programs that safeguard critical information assets across a complex, global environment.

This position can be based remotely in the United States, with periodic travel requirements to the organization's New Jersey office location.

Responsibilities

• Lead the enterprise Data Protection Program, including governance frameworks, operating processes, service oversight, metrics reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Own and manage Data Protection exception processes for USB devices, webmail, file-sharing, Trusted Computing, Secure Data Transfer, and other approved service exceptions
• Assess exception requests and coordinate comprehensive risk reviews, approvals, remediation actions, and full lifecycle management
• Reduce exception volume through implementation of secure alternatives, enhanced controls, user education programs, process optimization, and automation
• Partner cross-functionally with IT, security teams, Compliance, Privacy, Legal, HR, and business stakeholders to design and implement risk-based data protection controls
• Define, monitor, and report program performance metrics, exception trends, risk themes, and executive-level insights to leadership
• Maintain data protection policies, standards, procedures, governance documentation, and accountability frameworks
• Develop and implement comprehensive data security strategies to safeguard critical information assets and support enterprise data governance initiatives
• Lead initiatives to identify, classify, inventory, and protect sensitive information assets across the organization
• Conduct thorough assessments of data security controls, processes, and capabilities to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities
• Serve as a subject matter expert on emerging data security threats, technologies, and industry best practices, providing strategic recommendations for proactive risk mitigation
• Lead data security awareness programs, communications, change management, and training initiatives to drive adoption of security capabilities
• Support implementation of new data security technologies and coordinate across teams to deliver unified approaches to data protection

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; graduate degree preferred
• Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in IT Security management and/or IT roles
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in data security domains including governance, deployment of data security measures, data classification, or data labeling
• Advanced knowledge of information security processes, principles, and the ability to articulate the business value of cybersecurity to stakeholders
• Proven experience assessing current security threats, mitigation measures, and evaluating security vendors and technologies
• Demonstrated track record developing effective partnerships and strong relationship-building skills with IT and business partners
• Results-oriented mindset with strong ability to meet timelines and deliver on commitments
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to network and influence at all organizational levels, across sectors, functions, and geographies
• Demonstrable ability to influence and collaborate effectively to achieve desired outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications in cybersecurity (CISM, CISSP), audit (CISA), risk management (CRISC), or Data Security disciplines
• Formal training and experience developing or supporting large-scale Data Security programs in enterprise environments
• Experience managing Data Security and/or Data Protection projects from conception through implementation

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $117,000 - $201,250 USD annually, based on experience and qualifications.
