About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential commerce infrastructure organization based in London. This is a Software Engineer II role focused on AI enablement—building the internal tooling, observability, and guardrails that help teams adopt agentic workflows safely and cost-effectively.
You'll be instrumental in creating systems that track LLM usage and costs, evaluate emerging AI tools, and establish best practices across engineering and business functions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving real operational problems at the intersection of AI and developer productivity.
Responsibilities
- Build cost observability and usage-tracking systems for LLM and agent workloads, providing visibility into AI spend and productivity impact
- Design and ship internal tooling that enables safe, productive adoption of agentic coding workflows across teams
- Evaluate new AI tools, models, and vendors; translate findings into actionable build-vs-buy recommendations
- Write and maintain production-quality code and automated tests for the platforms and tools you own
- Review peers' code for correctness, readability, and maintainability
- Own end-to-end delivery of projects—from scoping through production rollout—across infrastructure, tooling, and process work
- Establish and communicate best practices for AI usage throughout the organization
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with the ability to operate independently on unfamiliar codebases
- A proven track record of owning and shipping mid-sized features or projects from start to finish
- Experience building distributed data systems, feedback loops, and measuring impact with metrics
- Strong testing discipline and experience improving CI/CD or developer tooling
- A problem-solving mindset focused on outcomes rather than specific tech stacks or languages
- Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills
- A generalist attitude with enthusiasm for learning and growth
- Bonus: experience with LLM/agentic tooling, AI cost observability, or internal developer platforms
