About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential deep-tech organization working at the intersection of AI, spectroscopy, and hardware systems. Our client is scaling proven technology with real-world deployment and an expanding international customer base. We're seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead hardware development projects from concept through production release.
This is a hands-on role managing complex systems that integrate optics, mechanics, electronics, embedded control, and machine learning. You'll coordinate internal engineering teams, external production partners, component suppliers, and customer-facing stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable systems.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end planning for hardware development projects, from prototyping to series production release
- Synchronize hardware, software, and data science development: manage interfaces, test campaigns, integration milestones, and release cycles
- Prioritize integration backlogs with technical leads and align delivery with customer commitments
- Manage outsourced development with production partners and component suppliers: define scope, specifications, timelines, and quality standards
- Integrate external partner timelines into overall project plans and proactively resolve conflicts
- Coordinate system deployments with sales engineering: installation scheduling, spare parts logistics, and incident handling
- Plan and monitor project budgets, track risks, and initiate corrective measures early
- Deliver clear, regular reporting on milestones, trial outcomes, and project status to leadership
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of technical project management experience in hardware development environments (machinery, medtech, robotics, optics, or comparable fields)
- Solid understanding of hardware development processes from prototyping through small series production
- Proven experience coordinating outsourced development work with manufacturers or key suppliers
- Sufficient understanding of software and data science to identify hardware dependencies and plan realistic integration
- Experience managing project budgets and tracking risks
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect engineers, partners, and leadership effectively
- Structured, hands-on working style with an affinity for using AI tools in daily workflows
- Fluent English required; fluent German is a strong advantage for partner communications
- Willingness to travel occasionally to partner sites
- Nice to have: experience with embedded systems, optics, or agile product ownership
