Senior A/R Manager – E-Commerce & Meldewesen (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential beauty e-commerce organization based in Europe that is scaling rapidly across multiple marketplaces and countries. Our client needs an experienced Senior A/R Manager to rebuild their Order-to-Cash processes from the ground up—implementing automation, streamlining international tax reporting, and establishing scalable systems that can support continued growth across Amazon, Zalando, and other sales channels.

This is a remote position open to candidates located anywhere in Europe. You'll work closely with the finance team to transform accounts receivable operations, making them marketplace-ready and compliance-proof.

Responsibilities

• Develop and automate the complete Order-to-Cash process—from marketplace settlement data through to final accounting entries
• Structure and unify international VAT reporting processes (OSS, VAT returns, recapitulative statements) across all operating countries using integrated tools
• Optimize cash application and bank reconciliation across multiple payment service providers (PayPal, Stripe, Amazon Payments, etc.)
• Prepare A/R processes for expansion into new countries and sales channels
• Build DSO and revenue reporting that makes A/R performance measurable and actionable
• Serve as escalation point for complex cases—disputed invoices, marketplace reconciliation issues, compliance edge cases
• Ensure quality of postings and filings through sampling controls and clear standards
• Coordinate and own the A/R portion of monthly close, ensuring reliable and timely completion
• Calculate and post accruals systematically at month-end
• Provide technical input when onboarding new sales channels or country operations
• Transfer process knowledge to the team and establish robust backup coverage

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience with clear focus on Accounts Receivable or collections management
• E-commerce/marketplace/multichannel industry knowledge—you understand the specifics of Amazon, Zalando and similar platforms (fee structures, settlements, chargebacks, returns)
• Strong expertise in international VAT reporting: OSS (One-Stop-Shop), VAT returns, recapitulative statements are daily business for you
• Solid system competency with DATEV, SAP, NetSuite or comparable ERP/accounting systems; experience with e-commerce accounting tools (Shopify, WooCommerce integrations, marketplace APIs) is a plus
• Proven track record building and automating finance processes—you think in systems, not individual cases
• Ability to provide technical leadership: share knowledge, ensure quality, remain composed in escalations, develop team members
• German language skills (C1 level) and good English—local and international requirements appeal to you
• Structured, systems-oriented thinking—you build processes that scale beyond today's needs
• Proactive and pragmatic approach: complexity doesn't paralyze you; when one tool doesn't fit, you find the next solution
• Strong sense of ownership combined with technical depth
• Team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and actively supports colleagues' development
• Appreciation for clear standards and quality, with follow-through to ensure compliance
