Senior Technical Architect – Hybrid (Product / Platform) (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SAP services organization seeking a Senior Technical Architect to own the technical design across their hybrid cloud landscape. This is a pivotal role bridging cloud-native, AI-enabled product development (approximately 70% focus) with SAP Private Cloud platform integration (30% focus). You'll be based in Hamburg and work in a hybrid arrangement.

This position sits at the intersection of modern Node.js microservices architecture, AI integration, and enterprise SAP systems. You will ensure that public cloud innovation and the SAP core evolve as one coherent, scalable, and future-proof landscape rather than disconnected estates.

Responsibilities

Cloud-Native Product Architecture (Primary Focus)

• Design microservices architectures on Node.js with API-first and event-driven principles
• Define service boundaries, data flows, and integration patterns
• Ensure multi-tenant capability and tenant isolation
• Architect for performance, scalability, resilience, and cost optimization

AI Integration in Product

• Design technical architecture for AI features including LLM integration within defined guardrails
• Implement RAG and agentic patterns over product and platform data
• Optimize performance and cost of AI-driven features

Hybrid Integration Architecture

• Design the integration layer between cloud-native products and SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud
• Define API and event contracts across the hybrid boundary (OData, REST, SAP Business Events, Event Mesh)
• Establish data ownership, consistency, and synchronization patterns
• Design identity, authorization, and trust propagation across the hybrid landscape

SAP Private Cloud Platform Architecture

• Provide architectural guidance for S/4HANA Private Cloud extensions and side-by-side scenarios
• Enforce clean core principles and SAP development standards
• Conduct architectural reviews with awareness of core SCM process flows (SD, MM, EWM)

Design Governance

• Create high-level design (HLD), solution design documents (SDD), and technical design documents (TDD)
• Provide technical review and sign-off in the Architecture Board
• Translate enterprise guardrails into actionable design standards for teams

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills

• Several years of experience as an architect in cloud-native environments
• Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
• Proven experience with microservices and API architectures
• Deep understanding of event-driven systems
• Experience integrating AI into software products
• Cloud architecture experience with containers, orchestration, and scaling
• Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud and clean core extension patterns
• Proven track record designing integration between cloud-native applications and ERP core systems
• High technical credibility with senior engineers in both cloud-native and SAP teams

Preferred Experience

• Experience with SAP BTP and SAP CAP (Node.js/CDS)
• Experience with RISE with SAP or hyperscaler-hosted SAP environments
• Exposure to SCM processes and SAP modules (SD, MM, EWM)
• Experience with ABAP / RAP at review level

• SAP Platform: SAP BTP, SAP CAP, S/4HANA Private Cloud, Clean Core, OData APIs, ABAP/RAP
• Data & AI: HANA Cloud (HDI, Vector Engine), Generative AI, SAP AI Core, RAG, LLM integration, LangChain/LangGraph
• Infrastructure & Security: Multi-tenant architecture, XSUAA/IAS/IPS, identity federation

AI Readiness

• Habitual, critical use of AI assistants in daily engineering and design work
• Ability to judge trustworthiness of AI output and awareness of data protection boundaries
• Experience with AI-assisted architecture work, design review support, and documentation
• Capability to design AI-native product features with appropriate guardrails and cost/latency considerations
