Senior Software Engineer with Accounting Experience (Chile)

We are representing a confidential fintech client in their search for a Senior Software Engineer with Accounting Experience based in Chile. This is a unique opportunity for professionals who started in accounting or finance and transitioned into software engineering — individuals who can leverage deep domain expertise to architect and scale technical solutions that solve complex financial challenges.

In this role, you'll design, develop, and optimize high-impact systems that power financial reporting, reconciliation, and automation workflows. You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, streamline financial processes, and build robust, auditable systems that meet enterprise-grade standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and maintain software solutions for financial processes
• Participate fully in the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment
• Build new features and products as part of an integrated engineering team
• Leverage your accounting background to identify gaps and improve automation and reconciliation workflows
• Design software applications and features in Golang
• Build reports and automations using Python and SQL
• Help build out a distributed architecture, creating solutions that work within it while maintaining consistency and scalability
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to design market-winning products
• Develop and collect metrics to drive continuous improvement of existing products
• Deliver high-quality, testable features that meet reporting and compliance standards
• Mentor other engineering teammates to help elevate their experience and knowledge

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• At least 7 years of full-stack software engineering experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Experience building and serving REST APIs using Go, Java, Python, or similar languages
• Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools; you must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication
• Experience bringing new ideas and building consensus on the path forward

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

• Prior experience as an accountant or financial analyst
• Solid understanding of financial operations such as reconciliation, reporting, and compliance
• Experience in banking or financial institutions
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, Go) and database systems like MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with software engineering tools, software development methodology, and release processes
• Comfortable using observability platforms like Prometheus, NewRelic, or Datadog
• Familiarity with containerized microservice architecture deployed with Kubernetes on AWS
• Demonstrated history of delivering commercial APIs and web applications
