Senior Software Engineer – IAM (OIDC / OAuth)

Portainer.io is hiring a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with expertise in OIDC and OAuth protocols, for a remote position based in India. This is a full-time opportunity to architect and develop identity solutions that secure millions of containerized deployments worldwide.

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer in IAM at Portainer.io, you'll take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining authentication and authorization systems that power our platform. Your work will directly impact how users securely access and manage their infrastructure, making identity security a cornerstone of the Portainer experience. You'll work with modern cloud-native technologies and collaborate with product, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver identity solutions that scale reliably and securely.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and implement IAM features using OIDC and OAuth 2.0 standards, ensuring compliance with industry best practices
• Develop secure authentication flows that integrate seamlessly with Portainer's container management platform
• Collaborate with security teams to audit, test, and harden identity systems against emerging threats
• Mentor junior engineers and review code to maintain high standards for security and maintainability
• Troubleshoot complex authentication and authorization issues in production environments
• Stay current with evolving identity standards and contribute to platform roadmap decisions

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial focus on identity and access management
• Deep expertise in OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and related authentication/authorization patterns
• Strong foundation in system design, security principles, and cryptographic concepts
• Proficiency in backend development (language-agnostic, but production-grade systems experience required)
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerized environments
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain identity concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor other engineers
