Senior Software Engineer (Elixir)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded workforce management platform that serves frontline businesses across the UK and US. Our client has built an AI-driven solution that helps organizations manage shift scheduling, compliance, payroll, and staff engagement at scale.

They are hiring a Senior Software Engineer with strong Elixir expertise to join a remote-first product engineering team. This is a role for someone who thrives on customer collaboration, works fluently with AI development tooling, and wants ownership over features from concept through delivery.

The position is remote within European timezones, with quarterly travel to London for team sessions and customer workshops.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end across the platform, including mobile application work
• Use AI development tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as your primary workflow—directing and evaluating agent-produced code rather than writing everything manually
• Work directly with customers through workshops and feedback sessions to validate that solutions address real operational challenges
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to shape features from early-stage requirements and kick-off conversations
• Rotate across product domains throughout the year (scheduling, payroll, HR, engagement) to build broad platform knowledge
• Participate actively in product development—challenging scope, proposing technical approaches, and making pragmatic trade-offs

What We're Looking For

• Senior-level engineer comfortable owning features from scoping through production—not just executing against a spec
• Professional experience with Elixir in production environments, with the depth to evaluate and correct AI-generated code confidently
• Demonstrated fluency with AI development tooling as a core part of your workflow—you can articulate and demonstrate your approach under pressure
• Genuine interest in understanding customer problems, with comfort being in front of customers directly
• Clear, concise communication for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Pragmatic mindset: able to let go of strongly held opinions when needed and make conscious trade-offs
• Bonus: Full-stack experience including React Native, background in product-led engineering teams or high-growth B2B SaaS, or familiarity with HR/workforce management domains

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: £85,000–£105,000 depending on experience
