About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital agency seeking a Contract Senior Front End Engineer for a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the world. Our client has built hundreds of digital products for major brands across media, retail, hospitality, and technology sectors.

This contract role offers the opportunity to architect user-facing foundations for complex digital products, working across WordPress block themes and Next.js/React applications. You'll transform design visions into fast, accessible, and elegant experiences that reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build large-scale, modular front-end products with emphasis on performance, accessibility, and maintainability
• Elevate team standards through insightful code reviews and establishing patterns for highly componentized systems
• Transform complex design visions into functional experiences that balance aesthetic refinement with technical excellence across all browsers and devices
• Bridge creative vision and technical execution, presenting solutions confidently to stakeholders
• Deliver finely crafted websites and tools that make the web more beautiful, functional, and accessible
• Contribute to engineering standards and proactively handle QA feedback while taking ownership of ticket communication
• Lead small projects or feature implementations as you demonstrate mastery of the team's practices

What We're Looking For

• Expert-level cross-browser and cross-device front-end engineering skills
• Strong proficiency in both WordPress block editor/theme development and Next.js/React projects
• Portfolio or code samples demonstrating elegant, maintainable solutions across different frameworks
• Systems thinking with ability to build interfaces using custom CSS implementations or efficient Tailwind-based layouts
• Strong prioritization of UX, performance, accessibility, and business objectives
• Excellent communication skills for technical discussions with clients and distributed team collaboration
• Experience with modern engineering workflows and strategic use of AI tools to enhance efficiency
• Proven ability to thrive in remote environments with strong ownership of work
• Craftsperson's attention to detail and commitment to front-end excellence
