Senior Software Developer – Platform & Infrastructure Engineering (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure provider seeking two Senior Software Developers for a greenfield platform engineering initiative. You will be a founding member of a new team building the next generation of their product offering from the ground up.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing business logic for infrastructure primitives including virtual servers, storage, and networking
• Building authentication systems and exposing APIs for both external customers and internal teams
• Creating account management, project structures, and feature flag systems
• Making architectural decisions that balance speed to market with long-term maintainability
• Participating in on-call rotation and proactively improving system redundancy
• Serving as a technical foundation for other teams building managed services on top of your platform

What We're Looking For

Backend & API Engineering:

• Production experience with modern backend languages (Go, Python, Java, or Rust)
• Proven track record designing and building stable APIs for infrastructure consumption

Infrastructure Knowledge:

• Familiarity with IaaS provisioning stacks such as OpenStack components, KubeVirt, QEMU, or libvirt
• Experience with storage technologies like Ceph or LVM
• Production experience with Kubernetes or comparable orchestration platforms
• Background with virtualization platforms (KVM/OpenStack or similar)
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform/Ansible)
• Experience operating large-scale infrastructure

Mindset & Approach:

• Solution-agnostic with ability to evaluate build-vs-buy decisions objectively
• True ownership spanning both backend development and infrastructure operations
• Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and production incident response
• Pragmatic risk-taker who balances perfectionism with delivery speed
• Fluent English required; German is a plus
• Ideally 10+ years of combined experience

Location & Work Arrangement:

• Remote within Germany
• Option to work hybrid or on-site if near one of the client's locations
• Permanent, full-time position
