About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their operations team in the United Kingdom. Our client operates cloud-based platforms at scale and requires an experienced professional to ensure reliability, availability, and performance across production environments.
This role involves managing production infrastructure, developing observability solutions, and working closely with engineering teams to build a culture of reliability throughout the software delivery lifecycle. You'll be part of a team that proactively addresses platform challenges through automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Ensure platform reliability and availability across production and pre-production environments through proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation
- Serve as first response for incidents and contribute to problem management and root cause analysis
- Support development teams in building reliability into the development lifecycle
- Develop troubleshooting documentation and operational runbooks for production support
- Collaborate with engineering and cloud teams to embed reliability and performance best practices
- Design, implement, and evolve observability solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack
- Participate in on-call rotations and continuously improve alert quality and response processes
- Champion a culture of reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across teams
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Proven experience operating container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes or Docker Swarm)
- Experience developing or maintaining software for production services at scale
- Hands-on experience with ELK stack
- Strong AWS cloud platform experience
- Experience with Grafana and Prometheus monitoring stack
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Go
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Proactive mindset with ability to anticipate challenges and question existing processes
- Team player comfortable working in agile/lean environments
Preferred qualifications:
- Telephony knowledge (SIP, VoIP)
- Linux administration experience (RedHat, CentOS, Amazon Linux)
- Configuration management tools experience (Terraform, Ansible)
- TCP/IP and networking concepts
- RDBMS knowledge (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- NoSQL experience (Redis)
