(Senior) Legal Counsel (m/w/d) für den Bereich Commercial

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is transforming the debt collection industry across Europe through technology and artificial intelligence. Our client operates in multiple European markets and is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their commercial legal team in Berlin on a hybrid basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to work on cross-border contract negotiations, RFP/tender processes, and strategic legal operations in a fast-paced international environment.

Responsibilities

• Support RFP and tender processes, conducting contract negotiations with prospects and existing clients across European markets (DACH, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Romania, and Nordics)
• Lead legal compliance reviews for international subsidiaries and commercial agreements
• Review and negotiate data protection agreements (including DPAs) and vendor contracts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data protection, AI governance, business development, partnership management, IT security, and finance
• Work with external partners to ensure compliance with legal requirements and contractual obligations
• Contribute to the development and implementation of legal operations optimization strategies
• Support the Lead Legal Counsel and General Counsel on additional legal matters as needed

What We're Looking For

• Legal degree (minimum LL.M.) from an EU/EEA jurisdiction, ideally equivalent to German second state examination
• Minimum 4 years of commercial law experience, preferably in an international European context (bonus: experience in France or Italy)
• At least 2 years of experience negotiating data protection contracts, ideally with partners from France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Romania
• Practical experience managing RFP and tender processes, contract negotiations, contract management, and legal reviews in an international company
• Fluent English required; French and/or German also required; additional languages (Italian, Dutch, Swedish) are a strong plus
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Interest and ability to accurately map contracts and develop contract management systems and documentation
• Proactive approach with strong ownership mentality and execution capabilities

The role is based in Berlin (Charlottenburg) with a hybrid working model: 2-3 days per week in-office during the probation period (6 months), then minimum 1-2 days per week thereafter.
