Senior Java Developer – Full Remote

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization in the UK that is building a sophisticated cloud-based software platform. Our talent team is searching for a Senior Java Developer to join their fully remote engineering team. This is a long-term opportunity for skilled developers who want to work on modern, distributed systems with a mature DevOps culture.

This role is 100% remote, and candidates must be available to work during UK business hours. We welcome both permanent employees and experienced freelancers seeking long-term commitments.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end systems using the JVM ecosystem, frameworks, and modern tooling without requiring close supervision
• Translate business requirements into actionable development tasks
• Write test-driven features and demonstrate proficiency with the TDD cycle
• Apply SOLID principles and cohesion concepts to create maintainable, well-structured software
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to translate needs into product improvements
• Lead technical discussions on system design and partner with Product Managers to deliver business value
• Support production systems, troubleshoot incidents, and conduct root cause analysis
• Share knowledge across the engineering community
• Mentor and develop other engineers
• Create proof-of-concept implementations to evaluate new technologies

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field
• 5+ years of professional Java development experience
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Working knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Proven experience scaling distributed systems
• Familiarity with multiple software development methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Experience with reactive programming, message queues, and continuous deployment pipelines is highly valued
