Senior Frontend Software Engineer (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in Munich that is transforming a traditional industry through innovative digital solutions. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join their product-focused development organization. This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll shape frontend architecture and engineering standards while contributing hands-on to product development. The team follows a "you build it, you run it" philosophy and embraces AI-assisted development as a core part of their engineering practice.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable web applications with React and TypeScript
• Own the long-term vision and architecture of frontend systems while managing technical debt strategically
• Drive company-wide frontend standards, best practices and technology decisions
• Mentor and grow frontend engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing without direct reports
• Leverage AI-assisted development workflows to increase engineering velocity while maintaining code quality
• Continuously evaluate and improve software performance, reliability, and security
• Stay current with frontend developments and bring relevant innovations to the team
• Work independently and take full ownership of assigned tasks from technical concept to production

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 8+ years of professional hands-on experience, with at least 6 years in frontend engineering
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and React with several years building and scaling production web applications
• Experience building end-to-end web applications using TypeScript, React and any backend technology
• Proven experience owning frontend architecture decisions across teams or products (component libraries, state management, application structure)
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) with a clear perspective on responsible use
• Experience with modern build tooling (ideally Vite) and linting tools
• Experience with unit and e2e test frameworks (e.g., Jest, Playwright) and establishing testing strategies
• Experience with backend interaction protocols such as REST API, WebSockets, MQTT, and GraphQL
• Experience hardening web applications through authentication services and security best practices (input sanitization, JWT, security headers, XSS protection, CORS)
• Proficiency in Git and experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)
• A mentoring mindset and ability to align engineers around shared decisions
• Strong written and spoken English (C1 level on CEFR scale)

Nice to Have:

• Experience building or governing design systems and component libraries (e.g., Storybook, Chromatic, Tailwind, AntDesign, BaseWeb)
• Experience with frontend observability and product analytics (e.g., Sentry, Mixpanel)
• Experience with GraphQL middleware such as Apollo
• Knowledge of web performance optimization (Core Web Vitals) and accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Knowledge of Docker, AWS and other backend or infrastructure technologies
• Experience working with modern planning tools (e.g., Linear) in agile product teams
• Experience leading guilds, chapter rounds, or communities of practice
