Senior Frontend Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS client in the mobile infrastructure space. They are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to own the architecture and development of a sophisticated visual editor product—a browser-based builder that allows users to create multi-screen flows with branching logic, variables, and conditional content that render natively across multiple mobile platforms.

This is a product engineering role with significant architectural ownership. You'll work on an editor with the complexity of a design tool: document models, layer trees, layout systems, real-time preview synchronization, and AI-assisted editing capabilities. You'll set technical direction rather than execute pre-defined specifications, and collaborate directly with SDK engineers on the contracts that connect browser editing to native device rendering.

Responsibilities

• Take features from customer problems through to production: collaborate with product and design to define solutions, make technical decisions, ship, and measure impact
• Own and evolve the frontend architecture of the visual editor as the product scales from simple flows to complex multi-branch experiences
• Build across the full editor surface: canvas interactions, layer management, property inspectors, state systems, navigation builders, variable systems, and conditional logic
• Define and maintain the configuration contract between the browser editor and native SDK runtimes across iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, and Capacitor
• Ensure rendering parity between browser preview and device execution across layout engines, typography, media handling, dark mode, and responsive sizing
• Build the underlying document model: nested configurations, undo/redo systems, autosave, draft management, versioning, and collaborative editing
• Integrate AI editing capabilities so generated content remains fully inspectable, reversible, and consistent with hand-built flows

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years shipping production web applications using React and TypeScript
• Proven experience building editor-class interfaces: canvas tools, drag-and-drop systems, node/graph editors, WYSIWYG builders, design tools, or similar document-based interfaces (not form-over-database CRUD)
• Product-minded engineering approach: you can articulate the user problems your features solved and the measurable outcomes after launch
• Demonstrated ownership of frontend architecture on growing products, with clear opinions on module boundaries, state management, and scalability patterns
• Deep expertise in complex client-side state management: normalized data models, immutability patterns, undo/redo systems, optimistic updates, and versioning strategies
• Strong command of rendering and performance: CSS box model, flexbox, absolute positioning, pixel-perfect reproduction of designs, and profiling-driven optimization
• Proactive approach to requirements gathering and technical contracts, with the confidence to challenge unclear specifications or technical decisions
• Comfortable working in a small, autonomous team with direct access to decision-making
