Senior Financial Accountant

Ramboll is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Bucharest. This full-time, remote position offers an opportunity to contribute to our global consulting and engineering operations through rigorous financial stewardship and analysis.

Position Summary

As Senior Financial Accountant at Ramboll, you will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records whilst supporting strategic decision-making across our Bucharest operations. This remote role demands both technical accounting expertise and the ability to work collaboratively across time zones. You will be responsible for complex financial transactions, regulatory compliance, and process optimisation that directly impact our business performance in Romania and beyond.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable Romanian regulations
• Manage month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and consolidation support
• Conduct variance analysis and produce detailed financial reporting to identify trends and support forecasting
• Ensure full compliance with tax regulations and audit requirements at local and group level
• Support internal and external audit activities through comprehensive documentation and financial explanations
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transaction posting
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance operational efficiency
• Mentor junior accounting team members and provide guidance on technical accounting matters

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, ideally within a multinational organisation
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent Romanian credential) or demonstrable progress towards one
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Microsoft Excel skills essential
• Thorough understanding of IFRS, Romanian accounting standards, and tax compliance requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Fluent English communication skills; Romanian language proficiency is advantageous
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a remote environment
