About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential management consulting firm seeking a senior software sourcing and value creation specialist. This role focuses on IT procurement optimization, contract analysis, and vendor negotiation for enterprise software and SaaS platforms. You'll work directly with client organizations to identify cost savings and optimize software spend.

This is a permanent position based in München with flexibility on start date. The role involves project-based work at client sites during the week, typically with team collaboration on Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze client software expenditure, license inventories, and contract structures to identify savings opportunities
  • Lead complex procurement processes and contract renewals with major enterprise software vendors
  • Challenge and validate requirements, user groups, license types, modules, and growth assumptions with IT and business stakeholders
  • Develop target volumes, licensing models, contract structures, and negotiation strategies for renewals and new procurements
  • Assess license metrics, entitlements, usage rights, edition logic, and contractual mechanisms including minimum commitments, price escalations, true-ups, and audit rights
  • Translate business and technical requirements into commercially sound sourcing decisions alongside procurement teams
  • Facilitate workshops, lead stakeholder discussions, and structure decision-making processes across IT, business, procurement, and management
  • Support implementation of optimization measures such as license downsizing, reharvesting, clean-up of unused licenses, and edition adjustments
  • Contribute to internal knowledge development in software sourcing and commercial value management

What We're Looking For

  • University degree in business informatics, business administration, computer science, industrial engineering, or comparable field
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in software procurement, IT vendor management, software asset management, license consulting, IT sourcing, or IT commercial management
  • Practical experience with enterprise software and SaaS contracts, particularly in renewals, new procurements, contract optimization, or license clean-up initiatives
  • Strong understanding of license metrics, subscriptions, entitlements, usage rights, edition and pricing models, and standard contractual clauses
  • Concrete project experience with at least two major vendor ecosystems (e.g., enterprise ERP, productivity suites, CRM platforms, creative tools, or IT service management solutions)
  • Ability to critically evaluate requirements and specifications while maintaining focus on underlying business objectives
  • Experience preparing and conducting commercial negotiations and developing robust negotiation strategies
  • Proven ability to lead workshops, structure complex issues, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Consulting experience welcomed; candidates from in-house roles should bring experience from cross-functional projects and complex decision-making environments
  • Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Analytical, structured, and independent working style with strong interpersonal and situational awareness
  • Willingness to take ownership, drive initiatives forward, and deliver results in client environments
