Senior Full Stack Engineer — TypeScript / Next.js (100%, m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization operating across the DACH region. They need a senior full-stack engineer to own the customer-facing platform for their German market—building and maintaining the digital application journey, customer and dealer portals, and the backend logic that connects regulated financial flows to their orchestration core.

This is a hybrid role based in Berlin with 2–3 days per week in a coworking office. You will work in a small, senior team where your architectural decisions have direct product impact, and where AI tooling is a daily part of the engineering workflow.

Responsibilities

• Own the German market on the customer-facing platform: credit and compliance requirements, dealer workflows, localized copy, and acceptance criteria
• Design and build multi-step application journeys: validation, resumable state, document upload, KYC steps, and error paths
• Build and maintain customer, dealer, and operations portals, including the operations dashboard and case routing logic
• Write use-case and API layers to clean-architecture standards—this is a full-stack role, not a UI role
• Own field-level mapping into the CRM and BPM process engine for compliance-critical data: beneficial ownership, source of funds, additional persons
• Author specification-driven change proposals and act as the named approver for journey and mapping changes in the German market
• Grow end-to-end test coverage on critical journeys to enable autonomous agent work
• Collaborate with backend and platform engineering teams on API boundaries and multi-market journey logic
• Communicate clearly in German and English with engineering peers and business stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of full-stack TypeScript engineering with recent production work in React and Next.js App Router (server components, server actions, route handlers)—mandatory
• Fintech experience in a regulated financial product (leasing, lending, banking, payments, insurance) where money moved and a regulator could ask—mandatory
• Proven ownership of a complex multi-step onboarding or application flow: validation strategy, partial persistence and resumption, conditional branching, document upload—mandatory
• Real backend capability: use cases, repository implementations, API handlers, PostgreSQL/Prisma queries (roughly 60/40 frontend/backend split)
• State and data-fetching maturity: Zustand or equivalent, TanStack Query, form and schema tooling (Formik or React Hook Form with Zod), server-side validation parity
• End-to-end testing with Playwright or Cypress on slow, stateful, integration-dependent flows
• AI-first engineering mindset: daily use of coding assistants and agents, ability to write change specifications precise enough for agent implementation and human verification
• Working understanding of German regulatory environment for consumer credit or asset finance (BaFin, AML/KYC, consumer-credit disclosure)—strong plus
• Internationalization as a habit: no hard-coded strings, awareness of multi-locale layout and copy implications
• Fluent German and English

Pay

This role is full-time (100%) and offers a competitive package. Our client provides a base salary of €70,000–€90,000 gross per year depending on experience, plus a 10–15% annual bonus tied to company performance and clear OKRs.
