Senior Engineering Project Manager (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential robotics and automation organization in München seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to lead complex technical programs from concept through production deployment.

In this role, you will:

• Manage engineering projects across the full lifecycle, spanning software and hardware workstreams including mobile robotics, simulation environments, and next-generation automation platforms
• Define and oversee project plans, milestones, budgets, and resource allocation while monitoring schedule, cost, quality, and contractual compliance
• Identify technical, schedule, and commercial risks early and drive mitigation strategies across multi-disciplinary teams
• Coordinate integration and validation phases including factory and site acceptance testing across hardware, software, and systems components
• Act as the technical liaison between product management, engineering, R&D, operations, and external stakeholders to ensure dependencies are properly sequenced
• Serve as primary point of contact for shareholders, technology partners, and customers, preparing steering committee meetings and status reviews
• Manage claims, change requests, and scope amendments in coordination with commercial and legal teams
• Track and report portfolio KPIs including schedule adherence, cost performance, quality metrics, and stakeholder satisfaction
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project management methodology and best practices

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of experience in project management, engineering, software development, or program management within robotics or comparable technical domains such as autonomous systems or industrial automation
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional engineering projects combining hardware and software development
• Strong technical fluency to engage credibly with R&D, software, and hardware engineers on advanced robotics topics without needing to be the domain expert
• Proven track record managing external stakeholders including customers, partners, or investors through steering committees, escalations, and commercial discussions
• Solid foundation in project management fundamentals: planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate between technical and executive audiences
• Fluency in English required; German is a plus
• Degree in engineering, computer science, software development, mechatronics, robotics, or related technical field is advantageous
• Willingness to travel internationally as project needs require
