About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential social-impact consultancy that produces a high-profile annual summit connecting entertainment industry leaders with changemakers and advocates. This invitation-only convening brings together approximately 500 television writers, showrunners, producers, studio executives, digital creators, nonprofit leaders, researchers, and frontline activists to spark collaboration between storytellers and social-impact professionals.
Our talent team is seeking a Senior Director of Audience & Community for a contract engagement to build and steward the community at the heart of this annual gathering. This person will own the full audience function—from strategy and curation through CRM, outreach, guest experience, day-of execution, and long-term relationship building throughout the year.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Curation
- Own the audience composition strategy for an annual 500-person convening, curating a room that brings together entertainment industry professionals and social-impact sector leaders with intentional diversity across perspectives, creative backgrounds, and industry positions
- Lead audience strategy for three smaller intimate gatherings throughout the year that introduce new voices, deepen relationships, and intentionally funnel participants into the annual summit
- Build a year-round community rather than a one-day guest list, defining the audience function as a pipeline into fellowships, future convenings, and ongoing engagement
- Create and steward a living ecosystem map of aligned organizations including studios, networks, production companies, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and foundations
- Execute a tiered invitation rollout strategy against defined room-mix targets by sector, geography, ideology, influence, and creative discipline
Systems & Reporting
- Own the CRM and audience database as a strategic system, moving the function onto an integrated platform that supports registration, segmentation, and year-round relationship tracking
- Design multi-stakeholder reporting dashboards that translate raw audience data into clear insights for leadership, funders, and cross-functional teams
- Maintain live tracking and report progress on RSVP health, room mix, VIP allocation, and retention metrics in weekly check-ins with leadership
- Define and track outcome KPIs including guest satisfaction, repeat engagement, year-over-year retention, and year-round community health indicators
- Build and manage outreach calendars, invitation workflows, and templates for each audience segment
- Own the working relationship with the graphic designer for audience-facing communications, managing briefs, revisions, and bringing finished assets forward for approval
Guest Experience & Day-of Operations
- Design the full guest journey from first invitation through on-site arrival, seating, and departure
- Develop audience logistics packets and manage partner fulfillment for funders, speakers, co-chairs, and key partners
- Lead day-of audience operations including registration, check-in protocols, VIP handling, real-time seating and room-fill management
- Serve as final decision maker on live audience issues throughout the event
Post-Event & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Manage distribution and analysis of post-event surveys, capture structured feedback, and report key insights to leadership and funders
- Build tiered follow-up strategies that connect attendees to fellowships, smaller gatherings, future convenings, and other engagement opportunities
- Develop and execute year-round audience engagement calendar including editorial updates, digital briefings, and community check-ins
- Build and steward a curated network of trusted collaborators who can be activated as contributors, moderators, hosts, advisors, or speakers
What We're Looking For
- 8–10+ years in audience development, community strategy, membership, partnerships, or relationship-driven leadership roles in media, entertainment, philanthropy, or live experiences
- Demonstrated success building and activating communities over time, turning participants into long-term collaborators and ambassadors
- Senior-level decision-making authority across both audience development (strategy, curation, invitations) and audience management (hospitality, guest experience)
- Deep knowledge of the entertainment and social-impact ecosystems with genuine relationships across television, film, digital media, agencies, studios, philanthropy, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations
- Excellent judgment and creative instincts for audience curation, balancing trusted relationships with continually bringing new voices into the community
- Experience integrating relationship management with hospitality operations including VIP travel, guest communications, registration, seating, and on-site experience
- Hands-on experience building and owning a CRM or audience platform (such as Whova, Cvent, Swapcard, or Swoogo) as a year-round relationship management system
- Comfortable directing and briefing creative execution, providing useful feedback on drafts and bringing polished materials forward for approval
- Exceptional systems thinking with strong project management instincts for building scalable workflows, trackers, and reporting structures
- Rigorous attention to detail and reporting discipline
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, hitting deadlines and driving work forward without needing oversight
- Comfortable owning ambiguity and defining scope when building a new function
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for funder-facing reporting, VIP correspondence, and cross-functional collaboration
- Able to work in an intensive event environment with significant focus required in weeks leading to the convening
- Must be available for required on-site presence in Los Angeles April 4–6, 2026
