Senior Design Engineer (m/w/d) elektrische Kontakte

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential engineering organization with an established development facility in the Wuppertal region. In this senior role, you will lead the design and technical development of electrical contact components and terminals from concept through series production. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, suppliers, and end customers while balancing electrical performance requirements with stamping and forming process constraints.

• Design and engineer contact parts, terminals, and comparable metallic components for electrical connector systems
• Define technical requirements and coordinate solutions with stakeholders across the supply chain
• Develop and evaluate component geometries and concepts considering contact performance, function, tolerances, materials, and manufacturability
• Guide designs from concept phase through prototyping, validation, and series readiness
• Assess existing and new design solutions; conduct or support feasibility, tolerance, and design analyses
• Coordinate and evaluate measurements, testing, and functional verification; derive necessary design optimizations
• Create and maintain 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation including change and release processes

What We're Looking For

• Completed technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or comparable technical qualification
• Several years of relevant professional experience in design engineering for electrical contacts, terminals, connectors, or comparable precision stamped parts
• Proven experience developing and designing metallic contact and connection elements
• Alternatively: Multi-year experience developing stamped parts or stamping tools, ideally with focus on terminal design for electrical connectors
• Strong proficiency in a common 3D CAD system, ideally CATIA V5
• Experience designing components for electrical contact performance, mechanical function, tolerances, and manufacturability
• Understanding of component development from concept to series production including associated change and release processes
• Knowledge of relevant technical standards, directives, and requirements for electrical connections and connector systems advantageous
• Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication and presentation skills; enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners
• German language proficiency required for this position
