(Senior) Controller / Finance Business Partner (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization experiencing rapid growth across European markets. They need four Finance Business Partners to drive financial steering during their next growth phase.

In this role, you will own financial control for one or more core business areas, working closely with department leaders to translate numbers into actionable decisions. Your responsibilities include:

• Steering KPIs, budgets, and financial metrics for your assigned business units, ensuring deviations are identified and actively addressed
• Analyzing profit and loss statements and contribution margins at product, channel, market, and cost center levels to identify performance levers
• Creating forecasts, scenario analyses, and business cases that transparently show the financial impact of different strategic options
• Supporting budget and annual planning processes, evolving them into dynamic management tools
• Analyzing cost developments and challenging existing structures for efficiency, scalability, and profitability
• Developing meaningful management reports, dashboards, and early warning systems in collaboration with finance and data teams
• Connecting operational KPIs with financial outcomes to create transparency around where the business earns, loses, or should invest capital
• Supporting liquidity planning, cash flow management, and working capital optimization
• Analyzing inventory, procurement, payment terms, and capital tied up in operations to improve cash conversion cycles
• Building out controlling processes with a focus on automation, standardization, and digitization

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in business administration, finance, controlling, economics, or comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in controlling, FP&A, or finance business partnering
• Background in e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, retail, fashion, consumer goods, or fast-growing companies highly valued
• Deep understanding of P&L structures—you can explain which operational decision drives each financial change
• Fluency with contribution margin, cash flow, working capital, forecasting, and business case development
• Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets with ability to analyze large datasets structurally
• Experience with BI tools, ERP systems, and automated reporting is a significant plus
• Analytical and precise working style that moves quickly from analysis to clear recommendations
• Willingness to challenge numbers rather than simply accept them
• Ability to explain complex financial matters so non-finance stakeholders immediately understand required actions
• Independent work style with comfort in fast-decision environments where results are clearly measured
• Very good German and good English language skills
