Senior Buyer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defense and infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Buyer to join their procurement team in the United States. Our client operates at the intersection of critical infrastructure and federal contracting, requiring sophisticated purchasing capabilities and regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Analyze purchasing requisitions for completeness, ensuring clarity in material descriptions, quantity requirements, authorization, delivery needs, and support documentation
• Maintain and update qualified supplier lists by commodity with appropriate project approvals
• Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation to qualified bidders, analyzing responses for commercial terms, pricing, delivery, financial stability, technical capability, and quality control
• Negotiate optimal pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, tax exemptions, and other cost-impacting factors
• Prepare comprehensive Bid Analysis Summaries and submit for management approval following established policies
• Issue purchase orders after securing all required approvals and maintain auditable documentation
• Conduct comparative analyses of pricing, delivery conditions, material availability, quality metrics, and supplier sources
• Close out purchase orders upon successful completion of all contractual and procedural requirements
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior buyers on purchasing procedures and procurement systems
• Manage a variety of procurement programs across multiple project portfolios

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or related field from an accredited institution
• 3+ years of purchasing experience, ideally in engineering and construction environments
• Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements
• Experience procuring IT hardware and software solutions
• Proficiency with enterprise procurement systems (Costpoint experience strongly preferred)
• Understanding of purchasing practices in complex project-based organizations
• Strong analytical skills for bid evaluation and supplier assessment
• Excellent negotiation capabilities and attention to contractual detail
• Must be a U.S. Person for this role
