Senior Business Intelligence Lead (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential electric mobility client in München that is scaling rapidly. As their business grows, stakeholders across finance, product, sales, and operations need reliable, consistently defined metrics to guide decisions. Today, different teams use different filters, dates, and assumptions – leading to conflicting answers to the same business question.

This is not a lack of data. It's a lack of shared definitions. Our client needs a Senior Business Intelligence Lead to establish a single source of truth: the certified data layer that the entire organization can trust. You will own core metric definitions, maintain data contracts, and be the authority when two numbers disagree.

Responsibilities

• Define and agree on core metrics with Finance, Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Engineering, and Platform teams
• Establish and maintain data contracts and ownership for every mission-critical metric
• Build and verify the certified data layer using ETL tools, surfaced in BI dashboards so teams can self-serve
• Use SQL to validate data quality, investigate inconsistencies, and trace numbers back to their sources
• Advise the Platform team on data flow improvements, pipelines, and transformations; help prioritize during planning
• Act as the decision-maker when reports disagree – determine which number is correct and why
• Improve data literacy across the organization through workshops, practical guidance, and clear documentation
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for analysis, automation, and workflows (with careful validation of outputs)

What this role is not: You will not own every dashboard request or become a bottleneck. Teams remain responsible for their own analyses and dashboards built on top of the certified layer. This is also not a classic infrastructure or people-management role.

What We're Looking For

Must-have:

• Senior experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data – ideally in a scale-up environment
• Strong SQL skills: ability to read, write, validate data, and trace the origin of metrics
• Experience defining KPIs in collaboration with Finance and other business stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with data models, data quality initiatives, or data governance
• Solid understanding of data flows, pipelines, and transformations
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and challenging unclear or incorrect numbers
• A practical, business-minded approach that connects business questions to data solutions
• Experience with automation, AI agents, or AI-supported workflows
• Fluent written and spoken English; German is a plus

Nice to have:

• Experience with Metabase, dbt, AWS Glue, Spark, Airbyte, or comparable tools
• Background in workshops, enablement, or data literacy programs
• Experience in B2B SaaS, electric mobility, energy, or related sectors

You do not need every tool on the list. We care most about strong SQL, sound data thinking, and the ability to bring teams to one shared definition.

Pay
