Senior Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential enterprise software organization seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst in Manchester. This is a high-impact role sitting within an Engineering Enablement function, where you'll act as a data domain holder for engineering reporting and insights across a Product and Technology department.

You won't just be fulfilling requests—you will own high-visibility data domains end-to-end. With approximately 190 KPIs spanning delivery, quality, investment, and AI adoption, our client needs someone who can take ambiguous questions from leadership, identify the underlying business problem, model the data, build semantic layers, and deliver self-serve insights that drive decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Act as a data domain holder for 2-3 subject areas (such as executive scorecards, dependency health, investment mix, or DORA performance) from raw data through to final stakeholder presentation
• Design, build, and document semantic layers that abstract complex data from engineering tools into simple, self-serve reporting
• Contribute to engineering teams with development tasks and test data to ensure quality and completeness
• Partner with senior engineering leaders to translate ambiguous business questions into specific, defensible data answers
• Consult on and challenge requirements, identifying the most useful metrics and deciding what should and shouldn't be measured
• Combine traditional metrics and AI telemetry to create meaningful measures of internal AI initiatives
• Build and own dashboards tracking delivery, quality, dependency, investment, and AI adoption metrics
• Advise on the evolving AI/BI tooling landscape, helping decide when to build versus when to consume existing solutions
• Coach and mentor junior analysts, championing data best practices to maintain clean and consistent outputs

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience building production BI in a fast-paced software or technology environment
• Python for complex transforms and a strong working knowledge of development practices and tools (code repositories, build tools, scripting languages, agile development)
• Deep SQL expertise and demonstrated comfort with dimensional modelling against warehouses with hundreds of tables
• Hands-on experience with enterprise BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or eazyBI
• Strong working knowledge of engineering intelligence, including DORA metrics, value-stream measurement, and CI/CD pipeline data
• Excellent communication and consulting skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, shape ambiguous requirements, and explain data limitations to executives
• High autonomy and the ability to own a domain end-to-end without needing a large support team

Desirable qualifications:

• Familiarity with the Atlassian data model (Jira, Confluence, Jira Align, JSM Assets)
• Background in a software development agency, SaaS environment, or a setting requiring management of multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities
